Yellow Cake from Scratch

Yellow Cake from Scratch

This is my Great Grandma Mae’s recipe for the easiest and yummiest yellow cake you will ever make and eat. I never met my Great Grandma, but this recipe has been past down each generation and that is what makes this cake so special to me, I enjoy cooking when I look at the same recipe card my mom, and Grandma’s used.

The best part about this recipe is the simplicity of it; I always know that I have these ingredients in my pantry at any given time. It seems like such a silly idea to me to buy a box cake mix, when I have such a simple recipe on hand. And with the economy the way it is, we all need to learn to cook from scratch and stretch every dollar. This cake recipe honestly taste’s better than anything you could buy in the store, but isn’t that always the truth, everything homemade is better!!

Ingredients:

3 cups all-purpose flour * 2 cups of sugar * 1 Tbsp baking powder

1 ½ cups of milk * ½ cup softened butter * 1 ½ tsp vanilla * 2 eggs

Directions:

In bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder… add milk, softened butter and vanilla, and mix together. Then add eggs and combine.

Pour into two greased round cake pans. Bake at 375 for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.
