The Fishing Trip
My husband recently returned from a fishing trip to an obscure northern Canada location. I refer to his week of fishing as the “fishing retreat”; my husband calls it a “work trip”! I know he had a blast getting up at four am, dressing for freezing cold weather, and fishing on a boat all day. I on the other hand would rather poke a hot needle in my eye before I had to get up at 4am and freeze my behind off! But now that he has returned home we get to benefit from his “work trip”, with 60 pounds of several different kinds of fish, and shrimp! I am grateful that every fish was already gutted, scaled and filleted, so that all I had to do was unwrap and seal in my food saver bags! I was able to borrow a friend’s food sealer, and off I went, sealing and freezing enough fish for my family for a year! Not only was I grateful for the fish, but for the freezer to store it in, and my husband’s job that provided the opportunity for my hubby to get out from behind a desk and to do a real man’s job for a day!
But the best part is what I learned– after he came home, the 60lbs of meat – I got to seal it for longer storage in my freezer. I was not sure what to do and my family and friends kept suggesting sealers that were very expensive and I just did not have the money to buy one.
After borrowing my friends Rival Food Saver I highly recommend it. The food saver worked well, got the job done, sealed everything perfectly and after researching them online I found them to be inexpensive and efficient!
If you get a chance check them out online. The saver worked great for my needs and after using a friends I am going to get one of my own.
