Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream
This weekend my son begged and begged to please make homemade Ice cream, both my husband and I dreaded the thought of having to pull out the big Ice Cream maker, set everything up and listen to the motor roar for an hour or more as the Ice Cream was made. So I delayed my son by saying we just don’t have all the flavorings we need to make it…even though he is only 5 he came in to the office, pulled up Amazon on the computer and said, :Okay Mom let’s find it.”
I started searching through Amazon for some fun flavoring we really didn’t need when I found something interesting. The Mega Ball –
I can’t tell you how excited my son was that the ball was blue and he could play with it.
Well – we waited a few days and the Mega Ball was delivered to my door. Which I love because I really hate going shopping. So tonight we made Homemade Ice Cream.
The Directions came with several recipes although we just made Vanilla
Here is the recipe we used –
Vanilla Ice Cream
1 Quart cream or half and half
1 Tablespoon Vanilla
3/4 C plus 2 Tablespoons sugar
We mixed that together and poured it into the container on one side. The we filled the other side with Ice and Rock salt. My son, Husband and daughter rolled the ball around for about 20 minutes. After about 10 minutes he carefully opened the container, scraped the side, replaced the lid and rolled the ball for an additional 10 minutes and voila we had a quick, easy, quiet and family fun way to make homemade Ice Cream.
I would recommend this for any family looking for a great way to spend time together and those preparedness minded for when there is no power, but you would still like a way to eat something fun.
This makes a great Present for Christmas – Birthdays and is great for the Ice Cream lover.
