This is one homemade recipe that is simple, easy and fun to make, only costing you pennies per load and no harsh chemicals or dyes like the leading name brands.

Where to Buy Ingredients:
I found all the ingredients at my local grocery store in the laundry aisle. I have found Fels-Naptha and my local dollar sore and everything can also be found at your local discount store (i.e. Wal-Mart, etc.)
I have also found everything online at ruralking.com.
Scented Soap:
If you want your homemade laundry soap to have a scent try adding your favorite essential oil to the recipe our family favorite is orange or lemon essential oil.
Ingredients will you need:
Soap
Washing Soda
Borax
Water
Oxi- clean (optional)
Recipes
Homemade Laundry Soap (Dry)
2 Cups Washing soda
2 Cups Borax
1 Bar Fels Naptha (Grated)
1/2 C. Oxi-Clean (Optional)
Mix washing soda, Borax, 1 bar of grated Fels- Naptha and Oxi-Clean store in plastic container or reuse old laundry box. Use 2 Tablespoons per load
Homemade Laundry Soap (Liquid)
1/3 Cup Fels Naptha
½ C. washing soda
½ C Borax powder
1/4 C. Oxi-Clean (Optional)
Small bucket (2 gallon size)
Grate the soap and place in a sauce pan. Add 6 C. water and heat until the soap melts, mixing well. Add the washing soda and Borax and stir until dissolved. Remove from heat and add 4 cups hot water into the bucket followed by the soap mixture mix well. Then add additional 1 gallon and 6 cups water and stir. Let the soap rest for 24 hours and become jelly. Use ½ Cup per load.
**In addition to a great clean, homemade soap we also want to make sure the soap is a cost saver so here are our calculations:
Dry soap per load –
Fels Naptha – $1.00 per bar
Washing soda – $2.99 for a 55 oz box (2 cups per batch = .92 cents)
Borax $ 2.99 for a 88 Oz. Box (2 cups per batch = .48)
Total $2.42 per batch approximately 40 Oz or 100+ – 2 TBSP. portions is .02 cents per load
Liquid Soap per load –
Fels Naptha – $1.00 per bar (1/3 bar per batch = .34)
Washing soda – $2.99 for a 55 oz box (1/2 C. per batch = .23)
Borax $ 2.99 for a 88 Oz. Box (1/2 C. per batch = .12)
Total .69 per batch approximately 2 gallons or 64 – ½ C portions or less than .01 cents per load)
